It's Christmas Time

Say, "Christmas" and people instantly see green and red, and big man with a white beard, pine trees and ornaments, they start thinking "What do I want for Christmas?" or "How am I going to afford Christmas?", they start thinking of the planning and how they're going to fit in all those extra calories and when they're going to have time to bake cookies... and "Oh ya, something about a baby in a manger."

We forget as a society and even as believers in Christ what this holiday season is truly about. It's not about all those fancy things and plans, it's to remember and be so thankful that God loved us so much that He gave His beloved, perfect, only child to this dark world so that we might have Light and Life. We need to remember that. I need to remember that.

"God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love--not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins." 1 John 4:9-10

I don't really have a lot to say but, my heart is just very full with the thought of the amazingness of the Gift of His Son. It's the most beautiful, selfless, eternal gift that there ever will be. And the fact that it is freely given to us, when we have done nothing to deserve it, just blows my mind.

Rejoice.
